Greggs Chicken Burger Menu 2026: Mayo, Spicy, Korean Crispy & BBQ

Greggs spent the best part of seventy years being the sausage roll place. Then, starting in 2024, it quietly started selling proper chicken burgers, and now there are four of them fighting for your lunch money: Mayo, Spicy, Korean Crispy and BBQ. I’ve bought all four more times than I’d like to admit, mostly just to double-check the numbers in this guide still hold up.

So here’s the honest, no-nonsense version: what’s actually inside each burger, what you’ll pay for one in 2026, how many calories you’re taking on, and which flavour is genuinely worth your money. If you’re after the pastry version instead, that’s a different product entirely — see how it compares in our Greggs Chicken Roll review and the full Roll Trilogy comparison.

The full breakdown

Meet the four burgers

Same basic idea every time — a crispy chicken breast fillet in Greggs’ soft corn-top roll — but the sauce and the salad do a lot of heavy lifting in telling them apart. Here’s what you’re actually getting with each one.

Since 2024 Mild

Mayo Crispy Chicken Burger

This is the one that started it all. A crispy chicken breast fillet, a handful of iceberg lettuce and a proper dollop of mayonnaise, held together in the corn-top roll. No sauce trickery, no chilli — it’s the burger equivalent of a plain sausage roll, and that’s the whole point. If you want to know whether you actually like the chicken itself before committing to a hotter version, this is where to start.

Since 2024 Hot

Spicy Crispy Chicken Burger

Same base burger, more attitude. The mayo gets a chipotle kick and there’s a scattering of jalapeños on top, so the heat builds as you eat rather than hitting you in one go. It launched alongside the Mayo version and has stuck around as the one regulars order when they want more of a bite. Independent nutrition trackers put a portion at 241g with around 31g of protein — handy to know if it’s a post-gym lunch rather than a pre-nap one.

Korean Crispy Chicken Burger

Arrived in May 2025 as part of Greggs’ Korean BBQ range, alongside a matching wrap, flatbread and baguette. Instead of chipotle, you get a Korean-style BBQ sauce and a seasoned mayo, giving it a sweeter, more savoury edge than the Spicy version — closer to a gochujang flavour than a British barbecue one. It launched with a recommended price from £4.

BBQ Crispy Chicken Burger

The newest addition when it landed in February 2025, first in around 150 shops before rolling out wider. It swaps the chipotle or Korean sauce for a straightforward BBQ sauce and mayo combo, so it’s smoky rather than spicy — a solid pick if jalapeños aren’t your thing but plain Mayo feels a bit dull. It launched at £4, originally as part of a hot sandwich bundle with wedges or a side salad and a drink for £4.95.

How we got here

From bakery to burger counter: a quick timeline

The chicken burger range didn’t appear overnight — Greggs built it up flavour by flavour over about eighteen months.

What you’ll actually pay

Every Greggs product gets pricier the closer you are to a train station, city centre or airport, and the chicken burgers are no exception. The Mayo Crispy Chicken Burger is the only one with a fully confirmed, store-by-store price breakdown, so it’s the clearest picture of how the tiering works.

The other three flavours generally sell for a similar amount before the same regional uplift applies — expect to pay somewhere between £3.85 and £4.15 at a standard shop, and a bit more the further you get from a normal high-street branch. One thing that catches people out: eating in adds 20% VAT on top of the takeaway price, so taking it away is always the cheaper option.

Want the exact price at your local branch rather than a UK-wide average? The Greggs Price Finder Tool and the Greggs Calorie & Price Calculator 2026 both do a better job of that than any single article can.

Calories & nutrition

How many calories are you actually eating?

You’ll notice a kcal figure on every hot food label at Greggs, and that’s not just good manners — it’s the law. Since April 2022, any food business with 250 or more staff has had to display calorie information on menus, under the Calorie Labelling (Out of Home Sector) (England) Regulations 2021, and Greggs comfortably clears that threshold with thousands of shops nationwide.

Of the two burgers with a properly confirmed number, the Spicy Crispy Chicken Burger comes out higher at roughly 571 kcal against 533 kcal for the Mayo. Greggs hasn’t broken out separate totals for the Korean Crispy or BBQ versions — since all four share the same fillet, roll and mayo-based sauce, the safe assumption is that they land in a similar 520–580 kcal bracket, but the Greggs app is the place to check if you want the number down to the last calorie.

If you’re tracking protein rather than just counting calories, a crispy chicken burger is a reasonably solid lunch option compared with a lot of Greggs’ pastry range — worth a look alongside our full Greggs High Protein Options guide. Following a points or syns-based plan instead? Both the Weight Watchers points guide and the Slimming World syns list are worth bookmarking before you order.

Before you order

Allergens: what to check first

All four burgers are built around the same three risk points — wheat in the corn-top roll, egg in the mayonnaise, and often milk or soya in the crispy coating on the chicken itself. If you’re avoiding any of the 14 major allergens recognised under UK food law, this isn’t a safe grab-and-go choice without checking first, and sesame or mustard can turn up as traces depending on how a shop’s kitchen is set up.

Greggs’ own in-app allergen filter and in-store guide are the definitive source, since recipes and suppliers can shift between updates. For the fuller UK picture on what’s safe and what isn’t across the wider menu, our complete Greggs allergen guide and the Allergen & Dietary Filter Tool are the quickest way to double-check before you queue. Coeliac or avoiding gluten entirely? None of the four chicken burgers are suitable, but the Greggs Gluten Free Menu 2026 covers what actually is. And if halal status matters to your order, it’s worth reading Is Greggs Halal in the UK 2026? before you commit.

Getting your hands on one

When and how to order

The chicken burgers sit on Greggs’ hot, made-to-order menu rather than the all-day bakery shelf, so they’re generally cooked once the lunch trade kicks in and available through the afternoon and evening in shops that stock the full hot range — not every neighbourhood Greggs carries all four flavours, so it’s worth checking before you make a special trip. Fancy ordering ahead so it’s ready the second you walk in? Click + Collect works for the full hot food range and earns you loyalty stamps at the same time.

Prefer not to leave the car — or the sofa? Drive-through branches typically carry the widest hot food selection, and delivery is available through the usual apps. Our breakdown of Greggs drive-through locations and the Just Eat vs Uber Eats vs Deliveroo comparison both go into more detail than fits here, including which app tends to work out cheapest once fees are added.

Getting the best deal

Making it a proper meal

When the BBQ Crispy Chicken Burger first launched, Greggs bundled it into a Hot Sandwich Deal — burger, wedges or a side salad, and a drink — for £4.95, which is roughly what you’d pay for the burger alone once city-centre pricing kicks in. Deal pricing and availability shift fairly often, so rather than quote a number here that might be stale by the time you read this, it’s worth checking the current line-up on our Greggs Meal Deals 2026 page and running the numbers through the Meal Deal Value Comparison Tool before you buy. If you’re the type who collects every voucher going, the Greggs Discounts & Deals 2026 roundup is worth a look too.

Wider context

How it stacks up against other UK chicken burgers

The UK isn’t short of crispy chicken burgers — KFC, McDonald’s and Burger King all run their own versions, usually somewhere in the £4–£6 bracket once you factor in a deal. What makes the Greggs version different isn’t really the chicken, it’s where you’re buying it from: the same corn-top roll you’d get on a sausage roll, ordered from a bakery counter rather than a full kitchen, and rung through the same Click + Collect app that’s already tracking your stamps. For a lot of people, that convenience — plus a genuinely lower entry price — is the actual selling point, not the sauce.

The verdict

Which one should you actually order?

Honestly, they’re all built on the same decent crispy fillet, so this mostly comes down to sauce preference rather than one being objectively “better.” Here’s how I’d point a friend towards the right one.

Want to judge the chicken on its own?

Start with the Mayo. No sauce is hiding anything, so it’s the fairest test of whether the fillet itself is any good.

Actually enjoy proper heat?

Go Spicy. The jalapeños mean the heat builds through the burger rather than front-loading it, which suits a slower lunch.

Fancy something a bit different?

Korean Crispy is the most interesting of the four — sweeter and more savoury than a typical British burger sauce.

Want flavour without any chilli at all?

BBQ is your one. Smoky rather than spicy, and a safer bet if you’re ordering for someone who can’t do heat.

Still not sure? Our “What Should I Order?” quiz takes about thirty seconds and does a better job of narrowing it down than staring at the menu board.

Quick questions

FAQs

The Mayo Crispy Chicken Burger is confirmed at £3.85 in a standard Greggs shop, rising to £4.60 in city-centre or London branches and £5.40 at airport or motorway locations. The Spicy, Korean Crispy and BBQ versions sell for a similar amount, typically between £3.85 and £4.15 in a standard store, before the same city and airport uplifts apply.

Of the two with independently confirmed figures, the Spicy Crispy Chicken Burger comes in higher at around 571 kcal, compared with 533 kcal for the Mayo version. Greggs hasn’t published separate totals for the Korean Crispy or BBQ burgers, but given they’re built the same way, expect a similar 520–580 kcal range.

Both use the same crispy chicken fillet, salad and corn-top roll. The BBQ version is topped with a smoky BBQ sauce and mayonnaise, while the Korean Crispy swaps that for a sweeter, tangier Korean-style BBQ sauce with seasoned mayo — closer to a gochujang flavour than a British barbecue one.
