Savouries & Bakes

If there’s one part of the Greggs menu that needs no introduction, it’s this one. Savouries and bakes are what built the brand — warm, flaky pastry wrapped around something hearty, and usually eaten within minutes of leaving the shop.

The Sausage Roll remains the headline act. A standard 103g roll comes in at 348 kcal and costs £1.30 at most high street branches, rising to around £1.40 in city centre and London shops, and up to £1.85 at airport or motorway locations. Its plant-based sibling, the Vegan Sausage Roll, is just 5p more at £1.35 (101g, 302 kcal) and has earned a loyal following well beyond vegan customers.

For something a bit more filling, the Steak Bake offers chunks of beef in rich gravy inside golden puff pastry — 136g and 428 kcal for £1.85. The Chicken Bake sits at almost the same price and calorie count (426 kcal), so the choice really just comes down to beef or chicken on the day.

Beyond these three, the savouries section also covers the Cheese & Onion Bake, the Sausage, Bean & Cheese Melt, and pizza slices, with prices generally falling between £1.60 and £2.75 at standard stores.

One pattern worth knowing: the further you are from a typical high street branch, the more you’ll pay. London and city centre shops usually add 10–15p per item, while airport and motorway service stations can add 30–50p on top of that — sometimes more.

Most savouries and bakes sit in the 300–450 kcal range, so any single item makes a reasonably filling snack or light lunch on its own. If you’re tracking calories across a meal deal, it’s worth factoring that in before adding a drink or side. We check these prices regularly across all three store types, so the figures here reflect the latest available rates.
