Greggs Croissants & Pastries (2026): Prices, Calories & Best Picks

The short version

Greggs has two croissant-style bakes, the All Butter Croissant and the Pain au Chocolat, plus the Yum Yum, the Belgian Bun and a rotating line of doughnuts. At standard prices the croissant and pain au chocolat both cost £1.25 and neither tops 300 calories. Below: all three price tiers, the calorie league from 201 to 374 kcal, vegan and allergen notes, Syns maths and my honest picks, including one to skip.

Greggs Croissants & Pastries (2026): Prices, Calories & Best Picks

I’ve stood in more Greggs queues than I care to admit, and the pastry cabinet is where I do my damage. It’s smaller than people think: an All Butter Croissant, a Pain au Chocolat, the Yum Yum, a Belgian Bun, a cream éclair and a run of doughnuts. That makes it easy to map properly, so you can walk in knowing exactly what you’re pointing at.

The prices and calories below come from our menu price list, which records all three pricing tiers, and I’ve checked the pain au chocolat and Yum Yum against Greggs’ own product pages. Your till has the final say on pence, especially in London and at airports. For the wider sweet cabinet (cookies, muffins, biscuits), our Greggs Sweet Treats Menu 2026 guide covers the whole shelf.

Looking for a Greggs chocolate croissant? There isn’t one under that name. The chocolate-filled pastry is the Pain au Chocolat: £1.25 and 299 kcal at standard prices.

Twelve lines, all three tiers. At standard prices nothing here costs more than £1.60.

Greggs’ own product pages give the Yum Yum as 310 or 323 kcal depending on the listing. I use 323, the figure on our price list.

Quick value read: the croissant and pain au chocolat cost the same at standard and city prices, so the pain au chocolat is the better buy if you want chocolate. It’s 7 extra calories for the same money. At airport prices the gap opens to 15p (£1.65 against £1.80). The Jam Doughnut is the cheapest line at £1.15, and the Cream Éclair is the dearest at £1.60. For the rest of the sweet shelf, see our sweet treats category.

📊 Calorie league: every pastry, lightest to heaviest

Same cabinet, very different damage. The gap between the Glazed Ring Doughnut and the Belgian Bun is 173 calories, about the same as a Gingerbread Man (176).

Orange is under 300, blue is 300 and over.

Split a Yum Yum and it’s roughly a 160-calorie snack each. Eat it whole and it’s a 323-calorie breakfast, which is still less than a Belgian Bun on its own. If you’re working to a ceiling, our calorie counting guides sort the wider menu the same way, and the calorie and price calculator adds up a whole order.

🏆 My best picks (and one to skip)

Best all-rounder

All Butter Croissant: £1.25, 292 kcal

The cheapest of the proper laminated bakes at every tier, and under 300 calories. At airport prices it’s £1.65, which is 15p less than the pain au chocolat. Ask for it warmed and it punches well above its price.

Lightest and vegan

Glazed Ring Doughnut: £1.20, 201 kcal

The lowest-calorie item in the pastry cabinet, and the one sweet treat Greggs has named as vegan. If a treat has to fit a calorie budget without feeling like a compromise, start here. The Jam Doughnut (£1.15, 236 kcal) is the next step up.

Best to share

Yum Yum: £1.20, 323 kcal

Greggs’ most loved pastry, and one of the cheapest lines in the cabinet. Halved, it’s about 160 calories each and lovely with coffee. Greggs’ own Yum Yum page lists eggs, soya and wheat.

Honest skip

Belgian Bun: £1.55, 374 kcal

It’s 30p more than a croissant and 82 calories heavier, with mostly icing to show for it. Buy it for the nostalgia, not the value. The one exception is if you’re vegan: PETA UK counts it as accidentally vegan, though Greggs doesn’t list it that way.

🎃 Seasonal and limited-run bakes

Greggs rotates limited editions through the year, and this month’s is the Pumpkin Spice Doughnut. It’s on our menu price list at £1.50, £1.75 and £2.00 across the three tiers, at 334 kcal. Festive lines such as the Sweet Mince Pie (£0.65 and 281 kcal on our sweet treats guide) usually follow later in the year.

Limited bakes can disappear without notice and recipes change, so check the Greggs app for the current nutrition panel before you rely on any figure for a seasonal item.

🌱 Vegan, veggie and allergen notes

Neither croissant-style bake is vegan. Greggs’ own Pain au Chocolat page lists eggs, wheat and milk. The All Butter Croissant is made with butter and wheat flour, so treat it as containing milk and gluten at the very least. The Yum Yum lists eggs, soya and wheat.

The one vegan sweet treat Greggs has named is the Glazed Ring Doughnut, in its own vegan menu post. The Jam Doughnut and Belgian Bun are often called accidentally vegan, and PETA UK says Greggs doesn’t list the Jam Doughnut as vegan because of cross-contamination risk. If that matters to you, treat both as a personal call. Our vegan and vegetarian guides cover the savoury side.

Everything in this cabinet is wheat-based, so none of it is gluten-free. Our allergen and dietary filter tool narrows the full menu down, and the Food Standards Agency’s allergy guidance is the plain-English reference on labelling and cross-contamination. Always check Greggs’ allergen guide in the app or in store before you buy, because recipes change.

💷 Why your price might differ: Greggs’ three-tier pricing

Our price list tracks three tiers: standard stores, city-centre and London stores, and Franchise/Airports sites such as airports and motorway services. On the lines in the table above, city and London shops add about 13 to 17% to the standard price, and Franchise/Airports sites add about 29 to 47%. A Pain au Chocolat that costs £1.25 on a suburban high street costs £1.80 at an airport, which is 44% more.

Our price finder tool shows any item in all three tiers, and the Greggs franchise model guide explains how franchised sites work. Eat in at any tier and 20% VAT is added, so takeaway is cheaper.

⚖️ Syns and diet-tracker maths

Slimming World’s rule of thumb is one Syn per 20 calories for foods without a listed value, so the cabinet converts cleanly. Treat these as approximate, and check the Slimming World app for official values.

Syns worked from the calories on our price list at 1 Syn per 20 kcal, rounded to the nearest whole Syn.

Weight Watchers points depend on your plan, so I don’t publish a conversion. Use the WW app for yours. For other items, our calorie counting section has the calorie figures to work from.

☕ Coffee and deal maths

None of the deals on our Greggs deals page is built around a croissant or pastry. The Breakfast Deal is a breakfast roll and a drink. Greggs has run a sweet treat and hot drink deal in the past, so check the app in case one is live. Students can unlock a free sweet treat, among other options, with the Cold Sandwich Deal through Student Beans or TOTUM, according to our deals list.

Building your own is easy. A croissant and a flat white (£2.40 at standard prices) come to £3.65 at a standard shop, £4.20 in a city or London shop and £4.75 at a Franchise/Airports site. Swap in an Americano and the same croissant bundle is £3.20, £3.55 and £4.05. Current drink prices are in our drinks section.

🧊 Freezing and the 90-second revival

Greggs doesn’t publish freezing guidance for its shop bakes, so this is general bakery sense rather than an official rule. A croissant freezes fine in a sealed bag for about a month, and a few minutes in a hot oven or air fryer brings it back. Skip the microwave, which turns laminated pastry soft and chewy.

Counter trick: a day-old croissant revived in a hot oven for 90 seconds to two minutes eats better than a fresh one that has gone cold. The water in the butter steams, the layers crisp back up, and your kitchen smells like a bakery.
